Over the last few years, the pharmaceutical industry has entered a phase of rapid evolution as the focus of therapeutic treatment delivery methods shifts in medicine. Specifically, the pharmaceutical industry has seen a rapid expansion of injectable medications, packed both in vials and pre-filled syringes. To begin the discussion on End-of-Line (EoL) machinery, this paper will first explore a brief overview of the EoL segments by sales for both machine and industry category. From this starting point, the paper will examine growth rates of each EoL machine category, highlight major industry trends that are affecting EoL equipment, explore the features of EoL equipment desired by end users, and outline what manufacturers most need from OEMs when evaluating EoL projects.

When we asked all respondents -- a mix of end users, such as consumer packaged goods companies (CPGs), and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) -- to tell us their top three operational priorities, labor came out first. This is no surprise since the USA is currently facing an unprecedented labor shortage.This is not a problem afflicting packaging and processing alone, it's an economy-wide trend.
