This past year has caused more upheaval in all areas of life than most of us have ever seen before, but I can assure you that as women business leaders, we are uniquely well-suited to navigate our companies through times of uncertainty and achieve success in a landscape that is still changing (and will continue to change).
Finding one’s career path is never as typical or straight forward as it may seem and I am always quite fascinated to see how people find themselves working in certain positions and industries. I have started to learn that there are many transferable skills in our world, allowing people to cross over into various careers that may not seem as predictable or obvious, but end up being the career match made in heaven!
There has been a lot of discussion lately on gender parity in the workplace. Thanks to Melinda Gates who has committed one billion to promote gender equality by supporting programs and policies that expand women’s power and influence and with the release of the latest McKinsey report.
NEW Opportunities? For some, that could be intimidating, for us at Apex Filling Systems, we were elated! This event highlights many careers that aren’t necessarily conventional for females. The goal is to introduce young ladies to the many opportunities that they may not have otherwise considered, or even know was available to them, as they are putting real thought toward their career path. The N.E.W Workshop continues to grow and generate interest and enthusiasm in our local schools and communities.
Mentorship – throughout our careers we are told mentorship is an important piece to the puzzle of success at work. Let’s discuss some of the aspects that impact mentorship for women at work and the positive impacts mentoring can have.
