PMMI Announces Additional 2014 Opportunities for Risk Assessment Workshops
PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, is pleased to announce additional opportunities to attend its risk assessment training workshops in 2014. Risk assessment is a tool manufacturers can use to evaluate their equipment for potential health and safety hazards during the production phase —before a potential hazard can cause an incident or accident. Additional workshop dates include: March 19-20 (Exton, Pa.), June 10-11 (Saint Paul, Minn.) and Oct. 31–Nov. 1, during PACK EXPO International 2014 (McCormick Place, Chicago).
Purdue Calumet Chooses PMMI Mechatronics Certificates as Standard for Training Under DOL Grant
The Department of Labor TAACCCT grant requires participants to earn a nationally-recognized credential. For participants trained at Purdue University Calumet, that means PMMI Mechatronics Certificates.
Manufacturers are Investing in Mexico
Mexican manufacturers are the second-largest importers of U.S. packaging and processing machinery, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Quarterly Import/Export Statistics for Sept. 2013. The report notes changes of 15.79 percent (increasing to $48 million) for processing equipment and 10.43 percent for packaging machinery (increasing to $115 million) since the same period in 2012.
